My auntie and uncle (Stewart and Maureen Kelly) managed the Wimpey on Bridge Street (Warrington Guardian, October 20).
They also lived there in a beautiful large apartment above the restaurant, on the third floor if memory serves.
As a young child I can remember visiting this restaurant, having a burger and chips, I always remember the tomato sauce bottle was a large tomato shaped affair.
And then climbing up the stairs to the apartment to visit my aunt and uncle.
I remember only seeing them both at the same time after the cafe closed, as it was a very busy establishment.
I also recall the apartment was in the turret (round) shaped bit of that iconic building, and had seating set around the window and the views were (as a young child) spectacular.
