PARENTS face the daunting task of finding things for their kids to do while school is out indefinitely.

So the ‘Crafternoon’ team at Warrington Museum and Art Gallery have put together this handy guide for some art and craft activities. Most require some basic supplies that you may have around the house.

SPRING BOUQUET

You will need:

2 pieces of coloured A4 card/paper

Cupcake cases

Ice lolly sticks

Felt tip pens

Paintbrush

Pencil

Glue

Scissors

Water

Steps:

1. Colour in cupcake case with felt tip pens.

2. Dip paintbrush in water and blend in the felt tip.

3. Draw a vase and cut out.

4. Arrange the lolly sticks, then the vase, on the remaining sheet of paper and glue down.

5. Cut flower shapes out of the cupcake cases

6. Glue the cases onto the sticks.

CUP AND BALL

You will need:

String/yarn

Cupcake cases

A4 colour card/paper

Scrap paper/card

Felt tip pens

Stapler

Scissors

Pencil

Glue

Steps:

1. Fold the paper in half and cut along the fold before rolling one half into a tube.

2. Cut a piece of string that is approximately three times the length of the tube.

3. Feed the string through the tube and staple one end closed.

4. Use a pencil to puncture three cupcake cases in the middle.

5. Feed cases onto the string and tie a knot. Scrunch up the cases around the knot.

6. Use scrap paper and pens to decorate

ORIGAMI CREATURE BOOKMARK

You will need:

A square piece of paper.

Googly eyes.

Craft supplies to decorate.

Warrington Guardian:

Steps:

1. Fold the square piece of paper corner-to-corner to make a triangle.

2. Then take the bottom left and bottom right corner and fold them over to the middle.

3. Next, take a flap from the top of the triangle and fold it down towards the base, tucking the folded left and right corners underneath.

4. Finally, it’s time to decorate. Use some googly eyes, pens, crayons and other supplies to create your very own origami creature bookmark.

RAINMAKER

You will need:

A toilet roll tube.

Cereal

Cling film

Sticky tape

Scissors

Craft supplies to decorate.

Steps:

1. Cover one end of the toilet roll tube with cling film, then use sticky tape to secure it in place.

2. Next, put the cereal into the tube and cover the open end of the tube with more cling film and stick in place.

3. Remember to turn the toilet roll tube up and down to make sure the cereal can’t fall out.

4. Once the tube is secure, decorate with coloured cardboard, ribbon, felt tip pens, crayons and whatever you fancy to make your rainmaker unique.
