TOM Jones is to perform at Haydock Park in a career spanning show celebrating more than half a century of hits.

The Welsh singing legend will play for The Jockey Club Live in Newton on June 20 – just days after his 80th birthday.

The global star, who was knighted by the Queen in 2006, has amassed 36 top 40 UK hits and has a reputation as one of the world’s greatest vocalists, earning him the nickname ‘The Voice’.

He continues to be a judge on the hit ITV show of the same name.

Tom’s many accolades include a Brit Award for outstanding contribution to music and Silver Clef Award for lifetime achievement.

Returning to Haydock Park he will be performing from his huge repertoire of hits, spanning genres and generations including Kiss, Delilah and It’s Not Unusual.

Dickon White, Jockey Club Racecourses’ north west regional director, said: “It’s great to announce that Sir Tom Jones will be returning to our course after six years away.

“Our music nights are always hugely popular so we advise you to purchase your tickets early to make sure you do not miss out.”

The Jockey Club Live concerts at Haydock Park Racecourse have been a staple in the region’s social calendar over the past few years with performances from artists including Kylie, Olly Murs and Nile Rodgers.

Since its launch in 2014 the concert series has hosted more than 120 gigs with a combined attendance of more than one million.

Tickets go on sale at 8am on Friday at thejockeyclublive.co.uk.

They start at £43.12 for adults and £22.40 for children.

Children aged four and under are free.

There will also be hospitality packages available for those who want to make a big night of it.
