WARRINGTON Wolves have signed Bradford Bulls young full back Ben Helliwell.
The 17-year-old was a regular fixture in Bulls’ under 18s set-up in the latter part of the season and Wolves' head of youth development John Bastian believes he has the ability to become a player to watch in the future.
He said: “The lad has massive potential and can play in a variety of different positions - at full back, wing, centre and pivot.
“He has an excellent attitude, a great work ethic and is a good athlete with good skills.
“We signed him because we believe he could be a potential first-grade player of the future.”
The young gun, who scored a hat-trick for Bulls in a man-of-the-match performance against St Helens’ Academy last season, had his first training session with Wolves this week.
Though it is unclear as to the length and details of his contract, it is understood that Wolves will have to pay Bradford in the region of £12,000 compensation.
RFL rules regarding academy players state the new club are obligated to pay £100 for every week a player is trained after they first sign a professional contract.
