TRENT Waterhouse has been praised after his display for Warrington Wolves against St Helens in Thursday night’s Super League 19 opener.
Wolves’ head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith was pleased with the contribution of his former Penrith Panthers and Australia Test back rower in the 38-8 loss.
“He was unbelievable,” said Smith.
“He tried and tried and tried. He was awesome and did an amazing amount of tackling.
“I thought he was a real warhorse in some adversity and really put his hand up.”
Smith also had good things to say about 22-year-old Warringtonian half back Gareth O’Brien, who was introduced off the bench in the 31st minute against a club he spent time on loan with last year.
“I thought Gareth was good when he came on,” said Smith.
“He added some spark to us, certainly, and was one of our shining lights.
“We only had two or three good kicks in the game and he kicked each one.”
