WITH the British Superbikes Championship season just about to start, Joe Talbot is looking in ominous form.

And if recent results are anything to go by, the Warringtonian rider could be a potential title challenger.

The former Lymm High School student will once again be racing in the BSB’s Pirelli National Superstock 1000 series – a championship in which he finished fourth last year.

He finished the campaign strongly with wins in the penultimate rounds at Donington Park, and he looks to have carried his form over into this year.

He came away from Donington’s No Limits Racing meeting with an impressive three wins out of three in the Pirelli Super Series 1000 class, with the second race won by a staggering margin of over 27 seconds.

That came after a successful official BSB test – again at Donington – where his times aboard the JR Performance Racing Honda put him second overall.

It appears as though a busy off-season of testing in Spain and motorcross off-road riding could be set to pay off, as could the decision to stay with Joe Richardson’s team despite offers from elsewhere.

Talbot will be on home soil for the opening round of the championship, which takes place at Oulton Park over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.
