FURTHER cementing a play-off spot and maintaining their superb away record should be motivation enough for Warrington Rylands when they travel to Bradford (Park Avenue) this afternoon.

As joint-caretaker manager Sam Wilson says, however, there is also a sense of wanting to put a wrong right as they cross the Pennines.

Blues make the trip buoyed by their midweek win at FC United of Manchester, with Mo Touray’s winner completing a 2-1 come-from-behind victory.

That means they go into the weekend third in the Northern Premier League Premier Division table with nine games of the season remaining, putting them firmly on course for a play-off spot.

They will also be protecting the only remaining unbeaten away record in English football’s top seven tiers against a Bradford side who are making a real fist of the fight to avoid the drop.

Only goal difference keeps them inside the relegation zone following a run of three wins in five games – a sequence that started with a 3-2 win at Gorsey Lane last month.

Wilson, who continues to pick the team alongside fellow senior player Dean Furman as the club continue to search for Michael Clegg’s replacement, admits that is a result his players are still smarting from.

“We’re really looking forward to it,” he said of today’s game.

“We’ve got a fantastic away record but they’ve really got going in recent weeks. The new manager came in around the turn of the year and since then, they’ve done really well.

“They had a positive result at our place a few weeks ago, which stunk for us for various reasons so we feel like we owe them in that respect.

“Mainly, we just want to continue off the back of a good result.

“We’ve got nine games left now so every game is crucial irrespective of league position.”

Blues were boosted in midweek by the return of Ben Hardcastle from injury – the key midfielder came off the bench at FC United after missing the previous four games.

They will also have defender James Butler available again after he completed a three-match suspension.
