ALBERT Pennington had a game to remember as Grappenhall Cricket Club’s first team extended their remarkable winning run.

A dominant win over Macclesfield in a rain-affected game makes it 11 wins in a row for Grappers, who have now beaten every other team in their league.

Batting first, Pennington smashed 47 from just 44 deliveries as Grappenhall declared on 190-4 off 29 overs, leaving themselves 42 overs to bowl their opponents out.

They needed just 35, with Pennington taking six wickets to help wrap up a comfortable win.

The seconds’ attempts to pick up a win were resisted by Macclesfield’s tail-enders, who survived to claim a dtaw.

Steve Rooney’s knock of 95 helped Grappers declared on 231-6 and while Macclesfield finished 60 runs short, they only lost eight wickets.

Stan Pennington, Matt Titchard and Sunder Binder all picked up two wickets apiece for Grappers.

The rain put paid to the thirds’ game on Sunday, with only six balls able to be bowled.
