WARRINGTON Town have secured two more new signings ahead of the new Evo-Stik Premier Division season.
Defender Mark Roberts and winger Jack Mackreth have signed in time to feature in Yellows’ opening game against Farsley Celtic on Saturday, with the latter subject to international clearance.
Roberts is a centre-half of vast experience and spent last season playing in League Two with Forest Green Rovers.
He arrives as much-needed defensive cover for manager Paul Carden, who looks set to be without captain Jay McCarten for longer than anticipated as he recovers from ankle surgery.
The 34-year-old is most notable for his spell at Stevenage – captaining them to back-to-back promotions as they went from the National League to League One – while he has also played in the Football League for Accrington Stanley, Fleetwood Town and Cambridge United.
He earlier had spells in non-league with the likes of Northwich Victoria, Southport and Halifax Town having started his career with Crewe Alexandra.
Mackreth, 26, has been on trial with Carden’s side this summer and has featured in their past two pre-season friendlies, scoring in the 4-2 win over Skelmersdale United.
He spent last season with Wrexham having also taken in spells with Macclesfield Town, Grimsby Town, Tranmere Rovers and Bury.
