FORMER Warrington stand off and member of the 1950 Challenge Cup winning team Bryn Knowelden has died at the age of 90.
Knowelden, who had been active until a recent fall, passed away in hospital in Blackpool on Friday.
His funeral takes place at Lytham Park Crematorium, Lytham St Anne’s on Monday, April 26, 2pm.
A classy three-quarter and Great Britain tourist, Knowelden signed from Barrow on December 11, 1947, for £1,400.
He completed the Warrington back division of Les Jones, Brian Bevan, Albert Pimblett, Albert Johnson, Jackie Fleming and Gerry Helme.
Knowelden scored three tries on his debut against Salford as Warrington embarked on an unbeaten run, culminating in a Championship win over Bradford at Maine Road.
In 1950 Knowelden scored the final try in the19-0 Wembley victory over Widnes.
Knowelden scored 37 tries in 125 matches before being transferred to Hull KR in 1951.
He leaves a wife Elizabeth, daughters Ann and Margaret, eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
