BEN Harrison believes the loan spell he had at Widnes at the start of the season has stood him in good stead for the Super League campaign.
Harrison and Wolves teammate Andy Bracek spent a month at the National League One club at the beginning of 2007 and have both since returned to The Halliwell Jones Stadium and played in the first team for Warrington.
Harrison said: "It was a good opportunity for me and Andy Bracek to get a bit of first-team experience so that when we were needed we could fit back in.
"Paul Cullen mentioned it to us because obviously the Academy season started a lot later, so rather than sit around on our backsides waiting for the season to kick off, we would get a bit of match fitness."
Harrison and Bracek have been two of several young players who got their opportunity in the Wolves first team during their injury crisis.
And, although the former Barrow Island player was the only one left in the team against Salford on Sunday as senior players returned, he thinks they all acquitted themselves well.
Harrison said: "I'd like to think all the young ones have coped pretty well in the first team.
"It's been hard with the results obviously, but there have been a lot of positives to take out of it as well."
