PARANORMAL investigators spent a spooky night at reputedly haunted Walton Hall on Friday night.

The team from Most Haunted Ghost Tours took paying customers around the stately home until the early hours.

People arrived under a moonlit sky to the hoots of owls before spending hours in vigils, awaiting contact with spirits.

The hall, which was built between 1836 and 1838, is supposedly haunted by the ghost of Lady Daresbury, which has been spotted on the staircase.

The evening was hosted by medium James Griffiths, who has previously carried out ghost hunts for the Warrington Guardian and is our online psychic.

The guests watched out for orbs' - balls of energy thought to be manifestations of spirits. They also formed rings around tables to see if the spirits could move them. James tried to speak to spirits, including a man called Thomas' who had died in a fire.

The Warrington Guardian saw the first vigil of the night when, in a cold, blacked-out room, the people at the table felt it rotate.

The ghosts were too weak at that point to pick the table up or tip it on one side, said James.

One guest said he felt cold shivers down his spine when the medium asked the spirit to lower the room temperature. The vigils continued at until around 4.30am.
