ALL but five areas of the town saw a rise in coronavirus infection rates over the past week.

The data reveals a surge in new Covid-19 cases, with Warrington now classes as an ‘enhanced support package area’.

In recent weeks, it has been revealed that the more transmissible Delta variant, which was first discovered in India, is responsible for around 92 per cent of all coronavirus cases in Warrington

Only six out of 25 areas of the town saw their number of Covid cases recorded in single figures, with 19 areas detecting 10 or above.

Only Grappenhall and Thelwall ‘supressed’ the virus by recording fewer than three new cases over the past week.
