A COLLEGE’S remarkable success in reducing its carbon footprint has been recognised in a series of awards.
Warrington Collegiate’s IT team beat HSBC among others to win the prize of best energy efficiency project at the National Tech World Awards in London while it also took home honours at the RSC Northwest Recognition of Innovation Awards.
The department has brought in a number of innovations this year including reducing the number of servers required for the IT systems, cutting back on the power consumption needed for PCs and improving the electricity voltage at the mains.
Low energy LED lighting was also installed throughout the campus with solar water heating features also incorporated to further manage the campus energy consumption.
