DRIVERS who flout the law are being warned that they could pay the price for breaking speed limits.

Officers will be clamping down on speeding in the 20mph limit on Long Lane, Orford following complaints from residents.

In a bid to drive home the message, bobbies will be using hand-held speed cameras on the road to act as a deterrent to speeders.

CSO Janet Price, of Warrington Central NPU, said: “We are appealing to drivers to take note of the speed limit that is in force along the road. Speed limits are in place for a reason and there is no excuse for exceeding the limit. There are plenty of warning signs in the area and people need to ensure they are taking notice of them.

She added: “We hope that the period of enforcement will not only encourage drivers to slow down – but will also help to educate drivers about the potential consequences of their actions and make them more aware of how their driving impacts on members of the local community.

“We want to reassure residents that we will take action against anyone who is found to be breaking the law - there is no excuse for ignoring the rules of the road.”
