CREWE full-back Marcus Bignot has turned down a new contract meaning he is free to leave under the Bosman ruling.
The defender was one of Crewe's non-league signings when he came to Gresty Road for a then record fee of £100,000 from Kidderminster Harriers in September 1997.
It now looks increasingly likely Bignot will move on and leave The Alex out of pocket.
However, the Railwaymen have successfully completed contract talks with two other first team players.
Striker Paul Tait and defender Mark Foran have both accepted new two-year deals which will take them into the 2002 season.
