MEMBERS of a StageCraft group from Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School are preparing to perform at The Lowry in Salford next month.

The group of students performed The Periodicals in front of more than 200 people across three performances this week.

The school production is part of the National Theatre Connections Festival 2024, a nationwide theatre festival that the National Theatre has hosted for the past 29 years.

“I am so proud of the students for their commitment,” said Ms Armstrong, leader of drama and school productions at the Latchford-based school.

“We had wonderful feedback from the audiences, including Phoebe Kemp, our mentor director from the National Theatre, and Gemma Evans, our festival coordinator from The Lowry.”

The Periodicals is a play set in the near future where a group of youngsters live off the land and hide from the education authorities who are trying to get them back at school.

“There are real complexities in a play like The Periodicals and our young people were highly engaged, maintaining a strong level of professionalism,” said Beverley Scott-Herron, headteacher at Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School.

“This was something really special.”

The group will perform the play at The Lowry on Friday, April 19, tickets can be found here.
