FIRE crews rushed to Rixton this morning after a fire broke out inside a bin lorry.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that two fire engines from Lymm and Irlam fire stations were dispatched.
This came after an emergency call came in shortly after 8am.
On arrival at the scene on Sycamore Crescent, firefighters discovered that a rubbish truck was on fire.
Crews used two hose reel jets to put out the fire, as well as a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.
Fire engines were present at the scene for approximately one hour.
Although the cause of the fire is not yet confirmed, information on the Warrington Borough Council website advises residents to never put batteries in any of your bins.
Batteries are a common cause of fires of this type, with two fires breaking out in bin lorries in the space of a year in the town in 2018.
You can take batteries to a community recycling centre or to your local Livewire library to dispose of them safely.
