DRIVERS are being warned of long delays on the M6 this afternoon after a vehicle.
One lane of the northbound carriageway near Thelwall, between junction 21 and 21A, has been shut while the incident is dealt with.
Emergency services are at the scene and are working to extinguish the blaze and recover the vehicle.
As of 3.30pm, National Highways are reporting delays of up to 30 minutes while lane one (of four) is shut.
A National Highways spokesman said: "Lane one (of four) closed is on the M6 northbound between J21 and J21A near Warrington due to a vehicle fire.
"Emergency services are working at the scene, with traffic officers assisting with closures at the scene.
"Please approach with care, as delays of 30 minutes on the approach."
