LATCHFORD Albion ARLFC have made another coaching announcement.

Hot on the heels of Adam Wood being named as ssistant coach, David Manfredi becomes head coach of the under 18s squad as well as assisting the open-age coaching staff.

Having been involved with the club at junior level for a number of years, the move will provide a further link for players moving up to open age.

Head coach Martyn Ellis said: “Dave and myself have been in regular dialogue over the last few months about ensuring we create a clear pathway for players coming through the ranks.

"By having him involved in both junior and senior set ups, he provides a pivotal role in the development of the players at the club which is the foundation of what we are looking to achieve in the future.”

Manfredi added: “It’s a really exciting time for Latchford as we have a real good number of lads at under 18s which we haven’t had for a number of years.

"Myself and Sean Bond head up the side and we have a great support network with us where we will be creating a pathway into the open-age team to keep the game alive but also getting the young lads playing week in week out and enjoying rugby league, which as a town we need to do everything we can to facilitate.

"When I spoke to Martyn and Danny Brown about the option of joining senior coaching staff, it was an easy yes and I am really looking forward to getting fully started.

"It’s going to be a challenging year with this young squad we have, but with the people we have involved I am more than confident we can achieve some great things."

Latchford return to pre-season training on Thursday, January 5. If any players are interested in joining them, contact Latchford Albion through their social media channels.
