DAWN Vago leads a busy life – not only is she a professional singer and part time cruise director but she also runs Warrington’s nail salon of the year.

The Pink Room in Great Sankey was named Best for Nails earlier this year in our Best of 2022 competition.

But Dawn isn’t one to rest on her laurels as she recently opened a second salon above her husband’s champagne bar in Lymm.

Dawn started singing when she was just 14 but developed nodes on her vocal cords and had to stop performing.

She needed surgery to laser the nodes which caused damage to the top end of her vocal range and it was 18 months before she was able to return to gigging so, she spent her time studying hair and nails.

Dawn said: “I hated hair but loved nails!

“Thankfully, my voice came back with a stronger lower end and I was able to return to gigs.

“I was invited to join a production team onboard my first ship as female lead vocalist and it was here that I met my husband, Imre.”

Having met onboard a cruise ship, the couple have travelled the world together.

They met in Gibraltar went on their first date in Guadeloupe and announced they were a couple in Madeira.

Imre proposed in Ho Chi Minh City, held an engagement party in Shanghai and they were married in Budapest.

Dawn and Imre moved to Warrington in 2013 and welcomed their son in 2017 when Dawn would work in the spare room – painted a colourful pink – working on clients’ nails around Riley’s routine.

After three years with The Pink Room, which is on Raikes Close, Dawn was crowned Warrington’s Best for Nails 2022 and opened up her second salon in Lymm – Vago Champagne and Beauty Lounge.

Dawn said: “Our clients are the beating heart of our business and are truly the ones driving us forward.

“We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful client base that has supported us since day one, with each new change we implement.

“Many of our clients have become friends and are an extended part of The Pink Room family so we listen to their advice and try and work on the feedback.

“We never expected to win Best for Nails 2022 and were happy to be nominated, so the win came as quite a shock.

“It goes hand in hand with another of our awards – 23rd best nail salon in the UK, which we won in March.

“We look forward to continuing what we have started and providing a warm and friendly space where our clients can be themselves and feel at home.”

Dawn now divides her time between the salon and the ships, spending as much time at home as possible before heading off on her next cruise.
