DAN Henshaw this week visited The Mount at Buckley.

He set his stall out for carp using a 16mm Krill popped up boilie.

This was presented over a spod mix roughly 4 rod lengths out on a multi rig and size 8 barbless hook.

He was eventually rewarded with a lovely common. Dan did not mention the size but in the photo, it looked like a double figure fish, well done Dan.

Stuart Atherton had a session on the Mersey with his lure rod this week.

His baits of choice were small 3 or 4 cm creature baits from FFS lures.

Stuart used 1 of his ultra-light casting rods matched to a BFS type reel. This was loaded with 10lb braid with a 6lb flouro leader. He had a few samples of perch a chub and a nice little jack pike.

Stephen Spann made another visit to Woodshaw Reservoir.

This water is one of the gems on our venue list as anyone who has visited this water will testify.

He fed micro pellets and ground bait with expanders over the top. His bait choice seemed to work as well, with several crucian carp up to 2lbs, lots of roach and what he describes has a weird looking goldfish.

This week`s Mersey Match on Mersey Walk saw an improvement in weights in a few areas possibly down to the fresh water in the week.

However the water was extremely low again.

Quite a lot of roach turned up in most swims with the two winning anglers catching some quality samples in their head-to-head battle on pegs 57 & 59.

The outcome was Harry Billing and Martin Lenihan tying for first place with 11lbs 13ozs.

Ray Boden was third with 10lbs 8oz and filling the last position was Chris Wray who has currently hit a vein of form.

All anglers fished pole and maggots with Chris adding a few skimmers on feeder.

This week's disabled and over 60s match on Woodshaw saw local expert Joe Garry just edge out Ray Boden for first place when he put 15lbs 13ozs on the scales to Ray's 15lbs 2ozs.

Both men used caster and maggot to catch crucians, skimmers and roach whereas Mike Worley fished paste to catch 8 crucians and a feeder caught bream for 12lbs 4ozs.

Bob Fitzpatrich occupied fourth place with 10lbs 9oz from the disabled peg.

Just a reminder to members who are night fishing, you must make toilet provisions for yourself and must take it home. You will be asked to leave if you have failed to prepare for this situation and a bailiff carries out a check.
