IT’S all about the gravy – the most crucial part of a roast dinner and the difference between a run-of-the-mill meal and an award-winning plate of food.
Michael Butler and Jenny Carey have mastered the traditional Sunday meal and Bold Street House can officially claim to serve the best roast dinners in Warrington.
The Palmyra Square venue is about to mark its third anniversary having opened in August 2019 but the celebrations have come early with Bold Street House taking the crown in our latest Best of 2022 competition.
Each week, we focus on different categories to find the best that Warrington has to offer with awards for hair, nails, beauty, fitness and independent shop being given out as well as fish and chips, pies, pubs, breakfast and afternoon tea already decided.
Voting is currently taking place in the latest round of the competition with the award for Best Pizza up for grabs with a closing date of midnight on Monday.
Next up we were searching for the town’s best roast dinner and Bold Street House came out on top.
Nominations said the roast chicken dinner is “fantastic value with amazing roast potatoes” and Michael and Jenny serve “a lovely sharing roast – something a bit different and very tasty”.
The mouth-watering roast chicken dinner sharing platter comes with crispy roast potatoes, buttery greens and roasted vegetables as well as cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire puddings and lots of gravy.
Michael said: “To win this award is very humbling as we are only a small independent place with a small kitchen.
“There are some fantastic restaurants serving amazing roast dinners in the town, so to win Warrington’s Best Roast Dinner award is great.
“We rely on repeat custom – customers who like to visit every week – and we can’t thank them enough for their support and for their votes.”
Michael and Jenny cook everything fresh in Bold Street House’s small kitchen, starting with a bar menu of popular dishes when they first opened before adding in the now award-winning roast dinners later.
The venue has a private dining room – The Vault – which is perfect for special occasions and la petite maison, which is an original 1979 Citroen HY van fitted as a cocktail bar open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in Palmyra Square gardens.
