TWO mums who opened their own fitness business after being made redundant ten years ago are officially Best for Fitness in Warrington.

Friends Claire Gregory, from Great Sankey, and Robyn Ablott, from Latchford, launched The Female Fitness Academy in a bid to help mums recover from childbirth and banish “fit shaming”.

Postnatal fitness was the focus for the two personal trainers and the business has since expanded to cover all areas of women’s fitness.

The pair join the Warrington Guardian’s Best for Hair champion Ashleigh Hair and Beauty, To Pie For, which serves the best pies in town, The Pink Room, which was named Best for Nails and The Seven Woods – Warrington’s Best Pub.

The Female Fitness Academy, which is based on John Street near Central Station, offers a wide range of classes and fitness sessions including walkin’ talkin’ mums, where mums – and dads and grandparents – can join others for a walk with their babies in prams or pushchairs.

These free weekly meet ups have proved so popular that they now offer them across the north west in Manchester, Liverpool and Wigan as well as Salford, Stockport and Newton.

There are pregnancy classes and 1:1 sessions as well as small group classes and they also provide an injury rehab clinic having both completed a masters degree in the field.

One of their loyal clients nominated the company – and voted for them to win – after coming back from injury and running the London Marathon with their help and support.

Another nomination said: “I wouldn’t have made it without their expertise, advice and support.

“The company and its trainers are incredible and they have given me the knowledge to keep my body and my mind fit and healthy.

“As my body is aging, they have given me confidence to continue with their programme, enabling me to be more active.”

Claire and Robyn beat off some tough competition in our latest Best of competition as we searched for the best fitness instructors in Warrington and they appreciate all the nominations and votes they received.

Claire said: “We’d like to congratulate all the other finalists.

“We have some seriously good fitness businesses here in Warrington, doing amazing things for so many people.

“We want to say a huge thank you to every single person who voted for us.”
Robyn added: “We honestly felt so overwhelmed when we saw just how many people had voted for us and it made us do a little giddy dance inside when we read through some of the heartfelt comments.

“It has made us realise just how many people’s lives have been changed by the work that The Female Fitness Academy has done, in various ways over the last ten years.”
