A VAN fire on the M62 eastbound has resulted in six miles of slow moving traffic.
Two lanes are closed after a two vehicle collision between junction nine for Winwick and junction 10 at the Croft Interchange.
Congestion is stretching as far back as junction seven at Rainhill Stoops.
Traffic had previously been stopped as of 4.35pm due to the incident which caused the van to catch fire and spill oil onto the carriageway
All occupants were out of the vehicles and three fire engines tackled the blaze, which has also affected the road surface.
Although traffic is now moving past the scene, lanes four and five remain closed and delays of approximately 45 minutes are to be expected.
