WARRINGTON Wolves’ physical disability rugby league (PDRL) team can now call themselves world champions.
They pulled off a superb 34-12 victory over their South Sydney Rabbitohs counterparts at Sydney’s 83,000-capacity ANZ Stadium.
In a high-scoring encounter, Will Maudsley scored a hat-trick for The Wire while Tony Seward crossed for two tries.
Luke Potter scored Warrington’s other try, while comedian and Last Leg presenter Adam Hills kicked one conversion.
Former Wire players Matt King and Andrew Johns featured for Warrington as able-bodied players, while another ex-Wire man, Roy Asotasi, did the same for Souths.
Hollywood star and Souths owner Russell Crowe was pictured celebrating with the team in their dressing room after the match.
The team will play another game at Redfern Oval on Sunday before flying back to England on Tuesday.
