MOTORISTS should brace themselves for long delays this afternoon, Friday, after a car fire on the M6 and a crash involving a number of cars on the M56.
Queueing traffic has been reported on the M6 Southbound between junction 21A on the M62 at the Croft Interchange and junction 21 at Woolston due to a car fire.
Travel time is currently 35 minutes.
Footage captured by Stephen Mackie shows a group of Good Samaritans pulling over to douse the flames.
The car is on the central reservation and the flames appear to now be out with smoke no longer blowing over the road.

Two lanes are also blocked and there is very slow traffic on the M56 westbound due to a crash involving a number of vehicles between junction nine on the M6 at the Lymm Interchange and junction 10 at Stretton.
There's congestion on the M56 to junction eight at Tatton and on M6 to junction 21 at Woolston.
Lanes two and three are blocked just after junction nine.
