VILLAGERS in Burtonwood can now access two services from one building.
The Post Office is now open for business following a move to its new home in the library.
As reported previously in the Warrington Guardian, LiveWire agree a deal last year to move the post office in as part of a major modernisation programme at the Chapel Lane building.
Emma Hutchinson, managing director of LiveWire, said: “LiveWire is delighted to have successfully gone through a detailed application process to deliver the Post Office local services from the existing Burtonwood Library building.
"We’re really pleased to be able to bring two key community services together under one roof.”
Cllr Tony Higgins, executive member for the community at Warrington Borough Council, added: “We are committed to investing in a sustainable future for our library service, and our libraries partnership board is helping us deliver some really innovative plans.
"It’s great news that Burtonwood Post Office and library is now open for business. It will be a fantastic asset for the community.”
The move means the library can open longer – for an extra 23.5 hours every week.
Thee new Post Office counter has now been installed and staff have undergone Post Office training.
Residents and small business customers can access a range of services including special delivery, local collect, home shopping returns and online banking deposits and withdrawals.
Other services include Post Office Card Account, MoneyGram, paying bills, pre-ordering travel money and insurance referrals and topping up mobile phones.
Suzanne Richardson, Post Office regional network manager said: “We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the community will meet customer needs.
"This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office.”
The new Post Office will be open during Burtonwood Library’s opening hours which are 9am to 5.30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 11am to 7pm on Thursdays, 9am to 1pm on Fridays and 9.30am to 1pm on Saturdays.
