A TEAM of four mathematicians from Penketh High School took home first place at the Maths Feast 2018.
The students travelled to Bishops Bluecoat School in Chester to take part in the contest which is designed and facilitated by the Further Mathematics Support Programme.
The FMSP describe the events as 'an exciting competition for students in year 10 testing mathematical, communication and teamwork skills'.
The team comprised of Jasveer Bains, Emerson Reddy, Adam Greenfield and Lewis Hewitson.
On the day, the students competed in four rounds which test non-verbal, spatial, practical and written mathematics challenges.
Of the four rounds, Penketh High came joint first in round one with Moreton Hall (Shropshire) and were the outright winners of rounds three and round four.
The event was attended by a mix of 22 schools from all over the Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside and Shropshire.
The team showed fantastic reasoning and teamwork skills to outperform the other teams and finish in overall first place.
