PLANS have been submitted to turn a town centre office block into flats.

Developers want to transform Hayden House, a currently-vacant office block on Mersey Street in the town centre, into 15 apartments.

Proposals for a change of use from offices to dwellings have been submitted to Warrington Borough Council.

The application states that, if approved, the development would result in a reduction in traffic.

It said: “There will be a significant overall reduction in vehicle trips, especially in both the morning and evening peaks, as a consequence of the proposed change of use from office to residential use.

“Additionally if residents work within the town they are likely to walk or cycle – any traffic flows are also likely to be in the opposite direction to the dominant traffic flows.

“The site is centrally-located within Warrington and is within very easy walking distance of many services, facilities and shops that the town and town centre has to offer.”

If approved, the development would consist of 11 one-bed and two four-bed flats with entrances on Mersey Street and the 15 vehicle space car park.

A consultation on the proposal runs until May 4.
