A CAR fire caused long delays on the M56 through Warrington earlier today.
One lane was closed westbound between Preston Brook and Stretton, leaving long delays for traffic heading into Manchester.
The whole carriageway was closed for a short time while emergency services arrived around 7.30am.
Traffic was also slow for vehicles travelling in the opposite direction.
All lanes have now been reopened according to police.
Fire crews from Warrington, Runcorn and Frodsham were called.
