THE race for the Warrington South seat has intensified after UKIP and the Green Party announced its candidates ahead of May’s General Election.
UKIP’s Malcolm Lingley will be standing for Warrington South and Steph Davies has revealed that she will be campaigning for the Green Party in the constituency.
It comes after Cllr Kevin Bennett, who has represented Labour in Fairfield and Howley since 2008, resigned from his post and confirmed that he will stand as a Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition candidate for Warrington South.
UKIP has also named Trevor Nicholls as the man to battle for the Warrington North seat against Labour’s Helen Jones MP, Conservative’s Richard Short and Stefan Krizanac from the Liberal Democrats.
The Green Party is yet to announce anybody for this seat but it is believed that it is strongly considering naming a candidate.
