A PADGATE youngster will set plenty of tails wagging after asking his friends to donate to Cheshire Dogs Home to mark his birthday.
Finlay Brooks, who turned six on Tuesday, will be dogs’ best friend after telling his mum he did not need any more presents because he had got enough at Christmas.
Mum Jenny Bate, of Kenilworth Drive, said: “We’re very proud of him and he’s been really excited seeing the donations total going up.
“We think he saw an advert on the TV about the charity so when we asked him what he wanted for his birthday he said he couldn’t think of anything else he wanted and maybe he should help the dogs instead.
“We set up a Justgiving page for him and asked his friends at his birthday party on Sunday to donate money or dog food or blankets.”
So far the Cinnamon Brow Primary School pupil has raised more than £260 for the charity and has been rewarded with a present, certificate and tour of the centre on Knutsford Road, Grappenhall.
Jenny, aged 27, added: “The other mums have said it’s a really nice thing to do and now we’ve gone past the target of £100 he’s been asking if we can get some toys for the dogs too!”
Anna Stansfield, home manager, said: “For someone so young to be thinking like this about the dogs in our care is remarkable and we are eternally grateful to Finlay for both the donation and the awareness it has raised for Cheshire Dogs’ Home as a whole.”
