APPLETON Parish Council (APC) is 'strongly objecting' the closure of any library in Warrington after considering proposals.
Residents in the area have been voicing their concerns to parish councillors, with more set to follow suit after LiveWire extended the library public consultation to October 21.
APC has sent a letter of objection to LiveWire and Warrington Borough Council (WBC), which pays LiveWire an annual management fee to provide a library service.
In a statement APC said it was 'strongly objecting' the proposals.
It added: "The planned closure of both Stockton Heath Library and Lymm Library will result in no library provision, other than a 'lending locker' in the south of Warrington and APC states that this is unacceptable.
"APC is concerned that there is no firm commitment from either LiveWire or WBC for the development of a 'hub' in the south of Warrington despite the planned proposals for the reduction of services.
"APC is concerned about the proposal to close any library in Warrington and this will result in the loss of community facilities.
"Stockton Heath Library provides free Wi-fi access and computer access with Microsoft windows and printing and scanning facilities.
"There are no plans for any digital library in the south of Warrington and there are no plans for the replacement of this service."
