A GUNMAN has been jailed after he was caught carrying a firearm on a town centre street.

Rafal Malara, from Wilderspool, was handed two months behind bars at Warrington Magistrates Court on Friday, August 9.

The 45-year-old was found in possession of an air pistol and a lock knife on Horsemarket Street on Friday, May 24.

Malara, of Fletcher Street, admitted possession of a bladed article in a public place and possession of an air pistol in a public place during an earlier court hearing.

But he was last week found not guilty of going equipped for theft and attempted theft of a bicycle on the same day he was caught with the weapons.

Magistrates also told the Polish national to pay a victim surcharge of £115.
